The Vachanamrut is the nectar of all spiritual and philosophical knowledge narrated by Lord Swaminarayan Bhagwan. It has been compiled by His five contemporary scholarly-sadhus who were known for their asceticism and scholarship in Sanskrit.
The Vachanamrut is the primary scripture of the Swaminarayan Sampraday. It contains 262 discourses given by Lord Swaminarayan between 1819 and 1829, compiled by five eminent saints: Gopalanand Swami, Muktanand Swami, Nityanand Swami, Brahmanand Swami, and Shukanand Swami.
The Vachanamrut covers all aspects of spiritual life – the nature of God, the soul, maya (illusion), and the path to liberation. It is considered the living word of God by devotees and is studied daily in homes and temples.
Vachanamrut Jayanti celebrates the completion or significant milestone of this sacred text. On this day, devotees perform special puja of the Vachanamrut, listen to readings and discourses from the scripture, and express their gratitude for having access to this divine knowledge. It is a day of deep study and reflection on the teachings of Lord Swaminarayan.
