Using the site

The site is provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial use: to learn about the Mandir and the Swaminarayan faith, to see daily darshan, to find and register for events, to read the articles, stories, festival pages, magazines and other material, and to donate.

You agree not to:

  • use the site in any way that breaks the law or infringes anyone's rights;
  • try to gain access to any part of the site, its server or its data that is not meant for you, including the volunteer area, or to test its security without our written permission;
  • use automated tools to copy the site's content in bulk, to submit forms, or to put an unreasonable load on the site;
  • submit false information through the event registration or notification forms, or register other people without their agreement;
  • use the contact details or any feature of the site to send unsolicited messages.

We may suspend or withdraw the site, or any part of it, at any time without notice, and we may block access from any address that misuses it.

Event registrations

  • Registering for an event through the site reserves a place for you and the guests you name. Where an event has a limit, places are given in the order registrations arrive. Once an event is full you can join its waiting list, and we will email you if a place becomes available.
  • A registration is confirmed when you receive our confirmation email. If you have not received it within an hour, check your junk folder and then contact us.
  • Events are free unless the event page says otherwise. Where a charge applies, the event page says how to pay.
  • You can cancel a registration at any time using the link in your confirmation email. Please do so if you cannot come, so that your place can go to someone on the waiting list.
  • Event details may change. We will tell registered attendees by email if an event is moved or cancelled, but we cannot be responsible for travel or other costs you incur.
  • Children and young people are welcome at our events. A parent or guardian should make the registration and should accompany children under 16 unless the event page says that it is a supervised children's activity.
  • Everyone attending the Mandir is asked to respect it as a place of worship: to dress modestly, to remove shoes where asked, and to follow the directions of the volunteers and the sants.

Event notifications

If you subscribe to event notifications we will email you when new events are announced. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any notification email. We will not use your address for anything else.

Donations

Donations through the site are made on PayPal's website, through the Donate button, and are subject to PayPal's own terms. Donations are gifts to the Mandir and are not refundable, except where the law requires it or a payment was made in error, in which case contact us within 14 days. If you are a UK taxpayer and wish to make a Gift Aid declaration, contact us at the address above and we will send you the form.

Content and copyright

Unless stated otherwise, the text, photographs, video, graphics and design of this site belong to Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Oldham and are protected by copyright. The daily darshan photographs and the photographs of events at the Mandir are ours.

You may view, download and print pages from the site for your own personal, non-commercial use, and you may share links to them. You may not copy, republish, sell or adapt our content for any other purpose without our written permission. Images of the murtis are published for darshan and must not be altered or used in any way that is disrespectful to the faith.

The Dharma Sandesh magazines, the scriptures and some of the articles, stories and festival material are published by Shree Swaminarayan Temple Bhuj and are shown here with permission; their copyright remains with the publisher. The saints directory and the information on temples worldwide have been compiled from the published records of the Swaminarayan sampraday; if you find an error, please tell us and we will correct it.

Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Oldham's name, the Mandir's logo and the "Oldham Mandir" branding may not be used without our permission.

Photographs and video at the Mandir

We take photographs and video at festivals and events for the Mandir's own records, this website and the Mandir's social media. By attending you accept that you may appear in them. If you do not wish to be photographed, tell a volunteer on the day, and if you later find a picture of yourself on the site that you would like removed, contact us and we will take it down.

Volunteer accounts

Volunteers who are given a login to manage content agree to keep their password private, not to share their account, to publish only material they are authorised to publish, and to use the tools only for the Mandir's purposes. We may remove an account at any time.

Accuracy and availability

We take care to keep the site accurate and up to date, in particular the event dates and times, but we do not guarantee that everything on it is complete or free of error. Daily darshan images and the live stream depend on volunteers and on equipment at the Mandir and may be unavailable on some days. Always check with the Mandir before travelling for a specific event or service.

The site may be unavailable from time to time for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.

Links to other websites

The site links to other websites, including swaminarayan.faith for the scriptures, the Mandir's YouTube, Facebook and Instagram pages, PayPal for donations, Google Maps for directions and the websites of other temples. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information.

Our liability

The site and its content are provided as they are, for information and devotion. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site, from reliance on its content, or from your inability to use it. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last changed, and the version on the site at the time you use it is the one that applies.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
